How many buttons is too many??? one can never have enough.

I have decided the time has come soon for me to part with some of my buttons,I have no idea why I love them so much.I am like a Bower Bird when I see them.
I grew up with my grandparents and they were Tailors and made uniorms for Police,Firebrigade and Ambulance men and fine suits for gentlemen. Both were still sewing into their 80's.Maybe it was always being surrouded by threads ,buttons and fabrics that makes me so into all of these today.
Soon I will downgrade and keep just some(well maybe a few hundred) lol here are some of my jars and tins all full of buttons.

A long time ago my mother in law decided to put all the same colours into jars ,after days and days she gave up lol well they look nice all mixed up.
Just a few of my tins I have plastic tubs of them high up in the pantry. These are full of buttons, the rusty old tin at the back( I have 2 of these ) these belonged to a friend of mine's grandmother but she did not want them.
They just go on and on..
I also have lots of ribbons but that is another story.lol.
This is an old spice rack,a great way to store modern coloured buttons.

Well that is some of my addiction,I would never live long enough to use them all, time is approaching to share them I think.

  2. Old buttons have become incredibly popular here in England, as are all vintage sewing notions. You could open the most wonderful shop Carole!

  5. Oh my gosh, let me at those buttons!! I adore buttons, as you know... & I blame my grandmother for introducing me to them. She had a big ol' sweets tin full of them - made from celluloid, bone, mother of pearl, bakelite - she poo-pood plastic buttons and stored them separately. They were a great source of fun & learning for me as I sat watching her sew. Wonderful buttons!!
