Those Special Pieces

What do you do with your special things of great meaning, are they in a dark place stored for preservation and bought out maybe every 10 years or so,or are you like me and you like to see them and look and ponder of things past.I would like to share with you a few of mine,I apologise for my poor camera work...can't be good at everything lol.
This one is a little collection that is very, very old.The lace collar belonged to an aunt that was so small and elderly when I was 12 so I will have have ot research her age we called her Aunt Tott and she always gave us raspberry cordial and fruit cake. However in her life she had much heartbreak a filandering hubby that liked dark coloured skin and he gave her a terrible time, she had 4 boys and 2 girls and her youngest was Gladys, she died of septisemia?at 8 years of age, she was much loved,my uncle(her brother) gave me this little baby bangle that belonged to Gladys and also her bootee and a card she received for Christmas from another  who loved her, I also had a lock of her hair and gave this to my cousin who is a son of the uncle that gave these to me I have also made sure my children return the many things I have to this young man when I am no longer here.

This one is memories of my grandparents, their wedding photo is there,a hanky that Nana had always in her drawer,an evening purse from her youth a bow tie of Pa's a baby bonnet lace collar and whale bone hair clip also some hat pins and a dress clip,I think of them whenever I pass by.

This one is my daughters wedding, her invite, pressed flower from her bouchet a lock of her hair, her hair piece, the hanky she carried,a tag from the little bottles of wine everyone recieved and also the pic of Kate and Steve, they were married in our garden it was a beautiful day.

This is one of my sons wedding,I am still waiting to find another lovely old frame,I actually had a friend looking at these on Saturday and she said she has one to give me so I am so happy as the frame spoils this little collection,it has my flower some from their bouchet, their invite and a pic of Michael and Kirsty,I don;t have any other little bits as I am the MIL and you don't get to get all the special bits but I love it anyway, although it is not as personal.
I love to have these things in view although I have so much stashed away, you can't possible have it all around but just thought I would show you what I choose to do with some of the "special bits".

  8. I just discovered your blog through a post you made on down to earth. What a lovely idea to frame those special treasures. I used to put away my special things, but then started to use them - what pleasure they bring!
