A Couple of Purchases by Second Hand Rose.

We do not buy a lot of things in the line of furniture as we love antiques and older things and the home is full already....BUT...we have been looking for a cane setting for our front verandah.I knew I loved white ones but this time I wanted the natural cane colour and it need to be comfy for Mum.We have been looking for such a long time and all the lovely old ones are too far away for us to buy.In the local paper last week was an add for a 3 piece cane setting , when we called the man said they had it especially made for a previous home for the sun room and that when they bought this house it would not fit,he sid they paid $2,000 for it and would decide how much it would be when we came to look.,We knew this was not going to be affordable for us but Bob said lets see it anyway, went and look and when the chap said we will take $300 for it we had to bring it home.

The cushions are an apricot velvet.,my worry is that it is too lovely for the verandah and should be in an enclosed room.

I could not believe that we would be lucky enough to own this setting it is lovely, the home where we bought it was gorgeous full of lovely antiques,a very wealthy retired accountant,he was lovely but made sure we felt we were Mr and Mrs Common...lol don't you just love people like that! but we did not care as soon as he said $300 we were off!.and  because it was second hand made it all the better for me,pre loved is always the way to go for me,new seems out of place.

  9. Fret not thyself of people who make you feel lower than them....you got a real bargain, girl, a beautiful looking suite of furniture. May you be long spared to enjoy it....nothing is 'too good' for you - I have a husband who refused two good doors for our outhouses 'because they were too good'!!! What did the owner do with them? Chopped them up for firewood! I was cross! These are doors which are overlooked by our dining room window...there is just no talking to him! Sorry for rambling on!
